MINISTRIES & MORE

We have several Ministries that will suit the needs of your family.  No matter what age you are, there is a place for you at the South Knoxville Church of God.  We encourage you to take the time to read about our various ministries and outreach programs.

  • GZ STUDENT MINISTRIES

Ground Zero Student Ministry, grades 6-12,  meets at the main church building for worship and Bible study.  The doors open on Wednesdays at 7 PM. The student program’s purpose is to equip young minds with the truth of God’s word and help mentor them in their Christian walk.
GZ's goal in 2018 is to reach outside the walls of the church and be a difference maker. God's word says, "Go Ye into all the world".  That is exactly the mission of the GZ student ministry this year.  We encourage you to join us in making a difference in 2018.

Come see what God has in store for you at Ground Zero!

  • CHILDREN'S MINISTRIES

On Sunday's we have a Program for 4 years old to 5th grade.  This program is available during church on Sunday mornings.  Children’s Worship is learning about Jesus through music & object lessons.  They will share service with the adults during praise and worship, then after the choir comes down, they will leave the sanctuary to engage in Bible learning and interactive fun.
Wednesday night's Kid’s Zone Club is for children ages 4 through 5th grades.  This program includes Bible stories, crafts, singing, field trips, and many other fun activities.  The Kid’s Zone Club is open to all children of the community regardless of church affiliation.

  • 55 PLUS CLUB

The 55 Plus Club is a lively group of young at heart adults who get together to fellowship, learn, worship, laugh, and enjoy themselves in the Lord.  This group is comprised of adults 55 years of age and older, but occasionally some “young-uns” tag along to help keep these rambunctious Seniors in line.
The 55 Plus have monthly meetings the second Saturday of each month at 5 pm in our church Fellowship Hall.  These meetings range from traditional Southern “covered dish” meals to Holiday themed meals.  Guest speakers, games, skits, or just plain fellowship are the theme at these monthly meetings.
During the fall our seniors make their homemade, “World Famous”, hot tamales.  From the sale of these Hot tamales our Seniors fund excursions to many of our East Tennessee attractions from Pigeon Forge to Chattanooga.
This group of lively Seniors continue to work together and encourage others by volunteering for service projects throughout the year.  Projects include making baskets for home-bound seniors as well as raising money for the Appalachian Children’s Home.
Our Senior directors want you to please remember, “You don’t stop laughing because you grow old; you grow old because you stop laughing!  Come laugh and stay young with us, the”55 Plus”, at the South Knoxville Church of God.
    Isaiah 61:10
I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God.
